I have the honor to report that on this date I presented a critique of the Battle of Gainesville to an R.O.T.C. Unit at the University of Florida. I had been asked by Major Matthew Davenport, Military Science Instructor, to illustrate the tactics utilized by both sides in that battle so that the Unit could analyze the strengths and shortcomings of the respective commanders.
I decided to galvanize as a Union
Cavalryman to depict the Union forces in the battle. I also used the
presentation as a recruiting opportunity by describing our upcoming
reenactment at Mt. Dora, including the projected amputation
demonstration by Musket Ward. I have appended two photographs to show
that demonstration and the Unit.
