A member of the 2nd Florida Volunteers Living History, Inc. (a detachment from Company E of the 2nd Florida Volunteers) gave a Living History presentation to an ROTC Unit at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.

I have the honor to report that on this date I presented a critique of the Battle of Gainesville to an R.O.T.C. Unit at the University of Florida.  I had been asked by Major Matthew Davenport, Military Science Instructor, to illustrate the tactics utilized by both sides in that battle so that the Unit could analyze the strengths and shortcomings of the respective  commanders.

I decided to galvanize as a Union Cavalryman to depict the Union forces in the battle. I also used the presentation as a recruiting opportunity by describing our upcoming reenactment at Mt. Dora, including the projected amputation demonstration by Musket Ward.  I have appended two photographs to show that demonstration and the Unit.

I remain, your obedient servant.
