

Members of the 2nd Florida
Volunteers Living History, Inc. (a detachment from Company E of the 2nd
Florida Volunteers) gave a Living History presentation at the
Family/Youth Day at The
Purpose of the campaign was to provide living history interpretation of the time period and related weapons use and safety in conjunction with the goals and intent of the educational program of the day’s event.
Unit began arrival the evening of Friday, 12 September. There were five:

Pvt. C. Smith
Members present put in three hours of set-up; tent, supply boxes, and cooking implements.
Tatoo was at 10:00pm. Reveille was at 7:00am. Fire was immediately started by Pvt. C. Smith.
Roll Call was at 8:15 AM. Pvt. C. Smith served up an excellent breakfast of eggs, bacon, and coffee. Captain Kearney arrived for breakfast and the first of two drills began at 9:00 AM. Weapons inspection was performed and the squad drilled for 20 minutes.
Throughout the day members of the unit offered varied interpretation of different aspects of the unit and articles of the time period.
Pvt. C. Smith again served up a superb meal with a supper of skillet-seared beef with rice.
The final demonstration of the day was weapons cleaning and history interpretation. Campaign was deemed a success. A total of 57 volunteer hours were performed for this event. The Unit was formally dismissed at 2:00 PM and camp was struck.
